At Gutsy, we are incredibly proud of our ambassadors. Each and every one of them is an inspiring person with special stories . What unites them is their unique bond with their dogs. Together they experience the most beautiful adventures, they love spending time with their best friends, and they inspire others to do the same.
This also applies to Lore, Jonas and Kyra from Off the Beaten Path, who we interviewed for this article.
1. First of all, would you like to tell us something about yourselves and your fantastic concept?
We are passionate travelers and organize unique trips with our Hotel on Wheels: a converted bus in which we take 7 guests on an adventurous road trip. The idea arose from our love for freedom and adventure, combined with the desire to take others to special places. Our trips are about peace, connection and adventure and above all creating a feeling of home along the way. We really enjoy relieving travelers 200% and giving them the adventure of a lifetime.
2. Where did your last trip go? And what did you do during the trip?
The photo series trip went to the beautiful Opal Coast, a coastal region in the north of France known for its impressive cliffs and charming villages. We were there for a long weekend, and it was mainly about walking, enjoying and relaxing. During the trip we hiked a lot along the coastline, where the views are truly breathtaking. We picked mussels during one of our walks and prepared them fresh in the evening! We also enjoyed the sun on terraces in charming villages and had a delicious meal, with of course home-made fresh fish! It was a trip full of simplicity, nature and coziness! Just how we like it!
3. What do you like most about traveling this way?
The best thing is the freedom to wake up in a new environment every time, without having to pack and unpack every time. Traveling with the Hotel on Wheels also offers a great feeling of togetherness and adventure. It is a great honor for us to be able to offer these kinds of unique experiences to travelers. We are therefore always very grateful when we are fully booked.
4. What are your favorite destinations?
Our absolute favorite is Norway. Nowhere else will you find more idyllic places to camp and around every corner there is a new adventure. This summer we are traveling with our Hotel on Wheels to Norway and there are still quite a few places available! Furthermore, we are really spoiled in Europe! We don't really need to travel far, since Europe has so much to offer: the rugged fjords in Norway, the arid desert landscapes of Spain and the high peaks of the Alps. You can really find everything here! Perfect to discover the continent with your four-legged friend. As long as there is more nature around us, we are happy.
5. You also have a dog (duh), Kyra. How old is she and does she have a lot of travel experience like you?
Kyra is four years old and has been traveling with us since she was a puppy. She has become a real adventurer who has discovered countless places in Europe and has had many adventures. Whether we are climbing mountains, hiking, kayaking or even shopping, Kyra is always there. Her passport already contains impressive destinations such as Norway, Italy, France, Spain, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany. Our motto is simple: where we go, Kyra comes too.
Only during our three-month trip through Iceland we couldn't take her with us. Iceland has a mandatory two-week quarantine period for dogs, which made it impossible to take her with us.
It broke our hearts, but there was no other way. Luckily Kyra had a great time with Jonas' parents for three months, where she had a great time. She is incredibly easy and adapts effortlessly everywhere!
6. Does Kyra always travel with your hotel and does she like it?
Yes, Kyra almost always travels with us. She did this as a puppy and is very used to this lifestyle. She always likes going away by bus because then she knows that the number of hours of walking will increase significantly. She also really likes meeting new travelers because they always want to throw that ball (and we are also very happy about that).
7. What is Kyra's favorite activity while traveling or favorite time of day?
Kyra is a bit addicted to us. Actually, the activity doesn't really matter as long as she can always come along. Since she has been with us almost constantly since she was young, she is also really the easiest animal there is. Of course, Kyra's favorite moments of the day are the walks. She enjoys running through the grass, sniffing new smells and climbing in mountainous areas. But as much as she enjoys walking? She also enjoys quiet evenings in the bus, nice and cozy with us.
8. Last but not least, what is Kyra's experience with our Gutsy food?
Kyra eats her kibble easily for the first time in a long time! Kyra is not an easy eater, so after a lot of trying it is nice that she not only likes Gutsy's kibble but also digests it well. It is important to us that she eats well during our adventures, and Gutsy fits perfectly with her adventurous lifestyle
Thank you Lore, Jonas and Kyra for your story!
