Dog chefs are big business. The dog food industry is reinventing itself, with insect chunks or fresh meals that are carefully composed by algorithms. Tastier, healthier and above all more sustainable, the industry claims.

Gutsy started as a research project by Ghent University students Jack Lathouwers and Achilles Hannecart, but evolved into a start-up that develops revolutionary, hybrid and sustainable animal food.

Two Ghent students develop animal food based on insects and won prizes at Expeditie DO!, the start-up program of Ghent University.

Insect-based dog food. That is what Achilles Hannecart (23) and Jack Lathouwers (24), two students at Ghent University, have developed. "The food is not only more sustainable, because it contains no meat, but also healthier for your dog. And it is also just as tasty," they say.
